Grant Mogford, CFPS, CESI, CECS, brings more than 32 years of expertise to the commercial kitchen grease exhaust system industry. He holds certifications as a fire protection specialist and exhaust system inspector, demonstrating his commitment to delivering service, education, and litigation support. Grant focuses on aiding kitchen exhaust companies, facility managers, Authorities having Jurisdiction, and food service operators in adhering to NFPA 96 standards, the California Mechanical Code, and California Fire Code. Specializing in fire hazard prevention and mitigation in commercial cooking operations, he also provides expert witness and litigation support for kitchen exhaust system fire legal disputes.

NICOLE PESQUEIRA

Fire Marshal

Brea Fire Department

Ms. Pesqueira has worked in the fire service for over 14 years, working for Orange City Fire, Pasadena Fire, El Segundo Fire, and now in her current role as Fire Marshal at the Brea Fire Department. Nicole is responsible for managing the Fire Prevention Bureau and is the department’s sole fire investigator. She served on the Orange County Fire Prevention Officers’ board as President, (now past president), is Fire Prevention Liaison and Roundtable Coordinator for CCAI, Co-Chair for the Southern California Fire Prevention Officers’ Association Fire Service Education Committee, Secretary of the Orange County Arson Task Force, and 2nd Vice President for the Southern California Fire Prevention Officers’ Association Executive Board. She’s also a registered instructor with the Office of the State Fire Marshal and is a Part-Time Adjunct Professor at Santa Ana College teaching fire technology and fire inspector courses. Nicole is available for fire prevention consulting and expert witness testimony as well for fire investigations.

With over 30 years of fire fighting and fire investigation experience, I am a passionate and dedicated Fire Investigator at Miles City Fire & Rescue, where I conduct cause and origin investigations for various types of fires, including vehicle, structure, wildland, chimney, and commercial kitchen fires. I also serve as a Fire Ground Safety Officer, ensuring the safety and well-being of the fire personnel and the public during fire operations. As the owner and principal fire investigator of Pierce Fire Investigations Inc. and Pierce Fire Consulting Group LLC., I have conducted over 2,500 fire and explosion investigations. I provide high-quality fire investigation and consulting services to clients in California and Montana, leveraging my credentials as a Certified Fire Investigator by the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), a Master Certified Fire Investigator by the California Conference of Arson Investigators (CCAI), and a Fire Investigator 1 by the California State Fire Marshal (CSFM). Additionally, I have a strong background in chimney and woodstove venting, solid fuel contracting and inspection, and commercial pyrotechnics, and I serve on the Technical Committee for the NFPA 211 Standards for Chimneys, Fireplaces, Vents and Solid Fuel-Burning Appliances. My mission is to apply my expertise and knowledge to protect lives and property from fire hazards and prevent fire losses.
